-- September 12th, 2007 -- Labels: 50 Cent, Kanye West, Television
The hype came and went too soon, if you ask me, but we'll have to wait till next week for the results of 50 vs. Kanye West. Even though Kanye would rather tell MTV what he thinks of its network, 50 should be worried that the Dropout will beat the King of Queens in the charts. I walked around my neighborhood today to see who was bumpin' what out of their whips and the tally was close:
Kanye was bumped out of 13 cars with most of them playing Can't Tell Me Nothing, Barry Bonds, Big Brother and Flashing Lights. While those are hot tracks, 50 wasn't failing in his hometown state. Cats were coasting to Fif in about 9 cars with that Mary J. Blige track being rocked out of 5 of them. Not sure if this technically counts as an "ethering" -- because the first week sales hasn't come back in, but it's undeniable to say who's the more creative of the two.
It is with that that although 'Ye hasn't had the best week ever, he'll go down in history as one of the best to ever did it. The production is experimental, as he links back up with Jon Brion [Late Registration] for a track or two.
Either way, as I said earlier -- this is good for hip-hop and hopefully it'll give these young guys something to shoot for.
In other news:
I'm thinking about developing a project that's fit for television. Does anyone have any advice on where I should start?
